About
Canadian soprano Olivia Haramis began her musical training in Cornwall, Ontario, where she studied voice, violin, and piano. She holds a Master of Music in Opera and Voice from McGill University, where she studied with Tracy Smith Bessette, as well as an Honours Bachelor of Music in Voice Performance and a Diploma in Opera from Wilfrid Laurier University. Recent performances include Zora in Ana Sokolović’s chamber opera, Svadba (Opera McGill), Musetta in Puccini’s La Bohème (Festival Ljubljana), Jesse Maker’s Devolving Songs (McGill University), Handel’s Messiah (Menno Singers), Daniel Regnier’s Évangéline (Opera from Scratch), Poulenc’s Gloria (Laurier Choirs), Anne in Livingston’s Singing Only Softly (Opera Laurier), Dorothy Parker from Pearce’s Etiquette (Opera Laurier), Baby Doe from Moore’s The Ballad of Baby Doe (Opera Laurier), Ellen Orford from Peter Grimes (Opera Laurier), Female Chorus from The Rape of Lucretia (Opera Laurier), Blanche from Poulenc’s Dialogues des Carmélites (Opera Laurier), Ophélie from Thomas’ Hamlet (Opera Laurier), and Christina Campbell in the world premiere of Canadian composer Stephanie Martin’s The Llandovery Castle (Opera Laurier). She was also a featured guest for several Classiqu’Arts SD&G festivals, where she performed excerpts from Rodgers’ The Sound of Music, Webber’s The Phantom of the Opera, and Délibes’ Flower Duet under the baton of Marc David. Olivia is a recipient of many awards and scholarships, including a McCall MacBain Regional Award and an RCM National Gold Medal.
